What challenges did you face prior to using Kotobee?
I wanted to create an ebook that allowed for video, photo, and text all in one. I also wanted to make my guide its own stand-alone app so that it could function outside of an e-reader, on both iOS and Android phones.
I wasn’t selling any training content prior to Kotobee, so I was going all-in with Kotobee for my first time creating content to sell!
What other options did you explore?
I tried googling and contacting different ebook creators but none seemed to have everything I wanted, and they always only functioned inside other e-readers (like a Kindle or Fire). I thought about doing a PDF, but that didn’t support video. Other options also didn’t have the capacity to be turned into a stand-alone app.
The most important thing to me was that I wanted a fairly user-friendly software that I could navigate putting my photo, video, and text in and then have an easy way to export it to the user, who I also wanted to have a smooth user-experience with it.
“The most important thing to me was that I wanted a fairly user-friendly software...and a smooth user-experience [for my users].”
How did you hear about Kotobee?
I found Kotobee by Googling “Interactive E-Book Softwares”. Kotobee was one of the first that came up, and had good reviews and seemed to offer everything I was looking for. It was also reasonably priced.
What drove you to choose Kotobee?
Besides being able to have photo, text, and most importantly video in one place, I was really interested in the ability Kotobee had to export the guide into its own app on both iOS and Android devices. I also liked small but significant options such as my control over how many devices the guide could go on for each user.
Is there a particular aspect of Kotobee that you rely on the most?
At this point, I heavily rely on using the User Manager to help my customers with their accounts and to track my users.
I also appreciate being able to see user details such as how many times each user is opening the app, when, and any issues they have logging in. The manager is user-friendly and allows me to manage their devices, emails, and passwords.
How did Kotobee influence the success of your business? Any metrics would be useful.
Obviously I measure the success of my guide through my sales, which are reflected on other software, but I also like to see the total user number that Kotobee shows me, so I can see how many people have my guide, with 99% of those being purchases (1% being a manual creation in which it was gifted).
The first several months after releasing my guide were definitely the most successful—as it is with a book release. I had 7 months of anticipation and promotion built behind the release. After that, the sales decreased steadily and peaked again in months that I ran sales and promotions.
I never offered my training guide on any other platform before Kotobee, so I can’t provide you with a comparison number. That said, I believe my app did really well because it was a mobile app that could function on both iOS and Android, which made it accessible to everyone.
In what ways is your competitive advantage enhanced?
Other trainers who are creating and selling similar guides are often creating simple PDFs with text and photo, because video is trickier to use and sell in a manner that keeps them (the videos) safe from being copied and easily accessed for free.
My guide is better than anything anyone else is selling because it functions as its own app. It doesn’t require the download of an additional e-reader. It was easy to use and navigate. The videos play within the app. It is available on both iOS and Android. And, it’s a one-time purchase rather than a subscription to a video-streaming platform.
What are Yogoskenz's plans for the future?
I plan to continue selling my guide with Kotobee, and hope that it can continue to be successful and a good user-experience for those who purchase!
