If you haven’t been to a writers retreat before, this is the year to go. With bountiful numbers of writing retreats the world over, you’re thoroughly spoilt for choice! Take time to glean advice and take inspiration from those in the know, wherever you go.
No matter how far you are in the writing process, there’s a retreat for you. Need inspiration? Have the ideas, but need isolation to write? Started writing, but need a push? Nearly finished your manuscript, but need intensive editing advice from an expert? Each retreat supports and boosts you along the path of creative production.
We’ve also added for you a few writing residencies. What are writers’ residencies you ask? They’re simply a way for you to cocoon with your work, experts, and fellow writers or artists so that at the end of your stay, you and your work can emerge as butterflies. Getting into a residency can be competitive. You will need to apply, provide a sample of your work, and most likely pay an application fee as well for processing. If you are fortunate enough to get accepted, you might find yourself the recipient of a nice stipend, too. Though not all residencies provide financial aid, most residencies are free. Because residencies can be a turning point for many authors, we included a couple to tantalize you.

I’m hosting a Writers’ Workshop Retreat in Bali, January 19-28th as well! I’ve been searching most of my life for the perfect place in nature to seclude myself and write, and I found the most AMAZING location, in the foothills of Bali’s holiest mountain, where every private bungalow has a stunning view into the rice-terraced valley. This writers’ retreat is all about overcoming writers’ block–I’m a writer and editor and also a meditation teacher, so we’ll have 10 days of meditations for creativity, free writing time all day every day, and a group workshop every evening. I’m also providing private one-on-one editing sessions, 2 day trips when a change of scenery is needed, 3 meals a day, 2 massages, and tons of other creativity-enhancing activities.
Dates: January 19-28th, 2019 (10 days!)
